Our Shelby is the classic eight-panel Irish cap in a more tapered version, with reworked proportions, a genuine leather button on top of the crown and an oval metal pin. It is made from a silk, linen and cotton blend with a tartan pattern, produced in Italy by the renowned Lanificio Egidio Ferla.

This distinctive pattern, called tartan, historically comes from the Scottish Highlands, where it still marks membership of a clan or a particular family. Such fabrics are also used to commemorate special events or to identify districts and institutions. In the 1920s the pattern was adopted and popularised by the Prince of Wales, whose name it eventually took.

This cap is made with true tailoring skill and still follows traditional techniques: hand cutting, dozens of making-up steps and pressing on wooden blocks. This historic artisanal know-how is complemented by technical innovations that support the hands of our Salento artisans throughout production. It is precisely this synergy, this balanced blend of tradition and innovation, that gives Doria caps the internationally recognised "hand" and mood that are a true speciality and hallmark of the brand.
