Our Shelby is the classic eight-panel Irish cap, reimagined in a sleeker version with updated proportions and enriched by a genuine leather button detail at the crown and an oval metal pin. The fabric used to make it is a blend of silk, linen, and cotton with a Scottish pattern, produced in Italy by the renowned Lanificio Egidio Ferla.

The specific fabric design, known as Tartan, historically originates from the Scottish Highlands, where it still defines affiliation with a clan or a particular family today. Such fabrics are used to commemorate special events or identify districts or institutions. In the 1920s, this pattern was adopted and popularized by the Prince of Wales, from whom it eventually took its name.

The crafting of this cap is highly artisanal and still follows traditional techniques today, such as manual cutting, dozens of assembly steps, and final pressing on wooden forms. This historical artisan know-how is combined with technical innovations that support and assist the hands of our Salento artisans during production. It is precisely this synergy—this balanced synthesis of tradition and innovation—that gives Doria caps the "hand" and mood recognized internationally, a true specialty and hallmark of the brand.
