Brand philosophy
Doria is a historic hat brand that was founded in 1905 and is the result of tradition, craftsmanship and quality. It has its roots in the sartorial tradition of handmade strictly Made in Italy.
A timeless, classically inspired product that interprets a new way of being contemporary. Coppole, Trilby, Cloche, Beret, Panama, Fedora, expressions of a natural, refined style of modern, accessible elegance.
Utmost care and attention is paid to the choice of materials, finishing details and respect for the history and experience of made in Italy, keeping unchanged workmanship handed down from generation to generation though innovated by advanced technique. Doria1905 offers a restyling of the classic hat made with humor and rigor, inspired by a refined and linear creativity.
The birth of Doria
The Doria brand was born in Maglie (Lecce) in 1905 from a small tailor's workshop in the city center, specializing in the production of caps and clothing, in which the D'Oria Family, which had crept into the area at the end of the previous century, made precious garments with craftsmanship and passion.
The family name, and consequently that of the brand, derives from Oria, a city in the Brindisi area that between the 7th and 10th centuries was home to a wise Jewish community, among the most illustrious and prestigious in Europe. And it is from the coat of arms of the city of Oria, which still stands on the "Gate of the Jews," that the D'Oria house heraldry, still used today as the company crest, also derives.
In 1937 his son Sabino continued the family adventure, establishing Sabino D'Oria e Figli, a small company that set up in a factory on the outskirts of the city, devoted itself to the production of children's clothing and specialized in berretteria, a typical production of the area that sees Maglie as the hub of the best Italian berretteria district.
The Revolution of the 1960s
It was in the early 1960s that the D'Oria Family decided to invest in a new 3-level factory, still the Company's headquarters, with an all-female workforce and about 120 employees.
Diversify production and specialize not only in children's clothing but also in military supplies, with a focus on headgear, which remains the hub around which all workmanship revolves.

The relaunch of the brand
Taken over in the late 1990s by the Gallo Family of Asti, Doria has distinguished itself since its beginnings for its commitment to handcrafting high-end products, with an ongoing focus on attention to detail, styles and trends that soon led to an expanded product range.
Today, the Brand boasts a young and completely renovated staff, consisting of a sales division, the production stage composed of more than 30 skilled craftsmen and a Style Office entirely dedicated to the development of the Brand.
