Our Egeo is a hat made in Panama Cuenca, a weave of single strands typical of the city of the same name. Our Salento artisans work the unshaped hood from Ecuador using only steam and heat, pulling it by hand over wooden blocks.

Worked this way, the material takes on the desired shape of crown and brim. It is handled with particular care throughout the process so that it keeps the traditional, unmistakable elasticity of Panama fibres.

The material of the famous Panama goes through several stages: it is a weave of "paja toquilla" strands, a straw obtained from the leaves of Carludovica palmata, a plant native to Central and South America. These straw strands are worked entirely by hand, an important part of Ecuador's cultural heritage: these ancient production techniques have been recognised by UNESCO as World Heritage of Humanity.

Depending on the type and fineness of the weave, Panama takes different names and grades: the finest can take up to 8 months of handwork by local artisans.

Our Egeo is a medium-brim hat in a very delicate cloud colour, with a tone-on-tone cotton hatband and almost invisible stitching. Gold-tone brass D logo. An elegant, delicate hat.

Returns are easy and always free: simply repack the product in the package received, send an email to shop@doria1905.com and wait for the label to attach to the package.
