Delano

Our Delano is a modern hat with a spirit that looks to the past, adding a touch of imagination and elegance to your look.

The Drop shape, a hat with a teardrop-shaped crown, is Doria's signature: once worn, it is sporty and elegant at the same time. Typically American and born in the first two decades of the 1900s, it is a development of more classic shapes and is also the shape of the hat worn by Indiana Jones. In the 1960s it was reworked specifically for men by shortening the brim, or for women by widening it. From those years on it was adopted by "Doria Maison" as the basis of its informal, playful style.

The Delano is made in Panama Brisa, a weave of "paja toquilla" strands traditionally produced in Ecuador from the leaves of the "Carludovica palmata", a particular type of palm. Brisa is a simple weave of single strands that gives the hat lightness and an open texture, for a particularly fresh feel. The leaves of these palms are still harvested by hand by local weavers in the towns of Montecristi and Jipijapa, then sold as woven hats in the city of Cuenca. The tenderest shoots are washed, boiled and sun-dried, then left to rest in the night breeze to obtain their naturally light, nuanced colour; they are then dyed in baths of natural tones in an endless palette of shades. A completely natural process, from the growth of the plant to harvesting, weaving and dyeing.

Here the process has some very particular stages: the strands are first dyed in two different colours chosen by our style office. In this case we chose the colours of our land and our roots, the colours of Salento: sea and bauxite. The strands are then woven by the skilled hands of the artisans into a two-tone star pattern that makes this hat truly unique.

The Delano is crafted by hand: it is shaped using only steam and heat, pulled by hand over wooden blocks and handled with care to preserve the traditional elasticity of the Panama fibres. The original velvet hatband with the company motto "Handmade Passion" is the finishing detail of a unique hat.

For any returned product, you can request a refund or a free replacement for any reason. You can return the purchased goods by shipping them back at your own expense within 14 days of the date of receipt.

Returns are easy and always free: simply repack the product in the package received, send an email to shop@doria1905.com and wait for the label to attach to the package.
