Women's and Men's Summer and Winter Berets

Originating in the Basque Country, the beret is a cap that was used by farmers to protect themselves from the weather. As time passed and shapes and proportions changed, the Basque category was used to identify different types of berets. All soft, round flat caps with or without pleats were classified as Basque berets.

The beret is a cap for women and men made of felted or boiled wool. The weave of the fabric is concentric, knitted on a flat disc that can be of different sizes. It is very easy to wear and lends a very fashionable touch to a casual-urban look; the combinations with this accessory are many, both in terms of colour and the style of the chosen outfit.

Originally a unisex cap, today the beret is used more as a ladies' cap. In recent years, the beret has been used by major international fashion brands in fashion shows and collections.

How to Choose the Right Hat Size

Choosing the correct size is a critical moment because handcrafted hats have very different sizes from the classic ones commonly used in clothing shops.

The sizes for berets are calculated in centimetres and range from size 55 (smallest) to 62 (largest). To find out which size is right for you, there is a quick and easy procedure.

To calculate your correct beret size, all you have to do is take a dressmaker's tape measure, measure the circumference of your head by holding the tape measure just one centimetre above your ears, which is the point where your hat will fit perfectly.

You can calculate the size using a string, a string or a shoelace following the same procedure as before. Mark with a pen the point where the parts of the lace intersect and then measure the lace with a ruler or traditional tape measure.
